Sarlat-la-Canéda

We spent a few days in Sarlat in October 2024. Because it was vacation we were determined not to drive even though most guidebooks don’t recommend the Dordogne without a car, so we took the train from Bordeaux and booked a couple of day trips with Ophorus Tours to see Rocamadour and prehistoric sites. Well worth the money; our tour guide Martin was an absolute gem. We were even able to book a place walking distance from the train station—if you’re stubborn, pack light, and mind the train schedule, you can indeed avoid renting a vehicle.
